Cat’s Eye dance their own kind of morris. It’s a bit like Border, but not quite.

Cat’s Eye’s home is South East Cornwall. There are no surviving morris traditions in Cornwall, although that doesn’t mean it never happened here  -  one of the oldest records of morris dancing is from near St Columb in 1467 - but of course we have no way of knowing what it might have been like. Did they use sticks, hankies, bells? We have no idea.  So we invented our own kit and wrote (mostly) our own dances. They’re fast and energetic, and a bit different.

In the winter we practice at 8pm at the British Legion in Tideford (where they serve an excellent pint of Skinner’s beer at a very sensible price!). Our practices are fun, friendly and enthusiastic, and are a great way to spend an evening. If you’d like to join us, just get in touch by  phoning

                Martyn on 07792 091336 or

               Pauline on 01208 821323, or

              email mail@catseyemorris.co.uk .

We don’t mind whether you are an experienced dancer or a complete beginner, we’d love you to come along and give it a try.

In the summer we go out and have some great evenings dancing at some of the lovely pubs in the area. The dancing is usually followed by a music and song session, often involving other talented local singers and musicians as well as ourselves.

Cat’s Eye are available to dance at all sorts of events - festivals, carnivals, seasonal celebrations, fairs and fetes, weddings and handfastings..

....most things, really.
